The Position
Westbourne Grammar School seeks an exceptional senior leader to take on the inaugural role of Head of Executive Communications | Office of the Principal. Reporting directly to the Principal and CEO, this is a high‐trust, high‐impact position responsible for shaping and stewarding the Principal's narrative across the whole school community. Politically astute and emotionally intelligent, the successful candidate will provide strategic counsel, rapid‐response support, and hands‐on delivery of executive communications, ensuring the Principal's priorities are advanced with clarity, precision and influence.
A central member of the Principal's Office, this role leads an integrated communications ecosystem spanning strategic messaging, crisis readiness, major announcements, narrative frameworks, influential written content, and thought‐leadership development. The Head of Executive Communications will steward Principal led projects, coordinate cross‐functional problem solving, align stakeholders, and support school wide change initiatives. With responsibility for message discipline and narrative cohesion, the role ensures communications remain aligned to Westbourne's Strategic Map, Masterplan and organisational transformation agenda.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of ten years' senior experience in strategy, operations, executive communications or consulting within complex and high‐scrutiny sectors such as education, government, health or finance. With exemplary writing skill, strong organisational IQ, superb judgement and the ability to influence without formal authority, they will thrive in a fast‐paced environment that demands diplomacy, confidentiality and sophisticated stakeholder engagement. Calm under pressure and highly relational, the successful appointee will be a systems thinker who can manage and execute competing priorities and partner seamlessly with the Principal, Executive Assistant, and senior leadership team.
With major strategic priorities underway, including the development of the new Lovely Banks campus, digital transformation, and whole school growth, the Head of Executive Communications will join at a pivotal moment, shaping how the school's vision, achievements and future direction are communicated across internal and external audiences.
