Position Overview :
As Lead CNC Machinist, you will be reporting to the Shift Supervisor, playing a pivotal role in our Machining Team. This position is responsible for setting up and using CNC machines to turn / lathe / cut varying sizes of metal to produce precision pieces used in complex pieces of equipment for industries such as Defence and Aerospace.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC lathes and or mills.
* Work to the standards in place and our internal work instructions.
* Ensure all components produced meet specifications using appropriate measuring equipment such as micrometres, Vernier, gauges, and Bore Gauges etc.
* Operating the equipment safely and competently in accordance with Marand's and OH&S standards and ensuring that good safety and housekeeping are in order.
* Must be able to contribute to continuous improvement techniques to improve output, quality, cost and delivery.
* Maintain production quality and minimise scrap and rework.
* Assist team members to resolve problems.
* Assist supervisor to train team members.
* Analyse work practices to ensure any toolpath, fixturing and or program improvements.
* Control use of resources within your area to achieve both maximum utilization and minimum wastage.
* Maintain oversight of parts manufacture through the machining processes and ensure it's on time and quality requirements are being met.
* Assist in running of daily stand-up meetings to discuss QCDSM with team.
* Maintain 5S standards throughout department and look at improvements. Liaise with the Supervisor to implement.

Qualification:
* Trade Qualification: A relevant qualification in CNC machining or Cert III Engineering (Fitter and Turner preferable) or equivalent in Machining background
* Technical experience: Min. 3 yrs. experience in CNC machine setting, operation, drawing interpretation, use of measuring tools, etc.
* Proven experience operating CNC Lathes and Mills.
* Experience with Okuma machines highly advantageous..
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* A flexible, adaptable and team-oriented approach
