Overview
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking for Remote Area Management Team Leaders to help manage Census collection in remote and regional areas for the 2026 Census. In this role you will lead a small team of Remote Area Management Team Members to help collect Census information across remote communities, regional towns, farming properties, mining camps, roadhouses and national parks. You will work closely with your manager and support staff to make sure Census activities are completed safely and correctly.
This includes working with communities, organising field staff, and making sure Census forms are completed and returned.
Responsibilities
* Engaging with community members to raise awareness about the Census
* Leading and managing a small team of up to four staff
* Recruiting and training Community Field Officers
* Managing Census collection activities in your area
* Supporting staff to conduct interviews and deliver Census forms
* Using maps, mobile apps and tablets to plan work and report progress
* Reviewing and finalising Remote Area Management Team activities
Area Management Team plans
* Conducting quality checks on completed Census forms
* Managing recruitment, payroll, WHS and Census documentation securely
* Ensuring all electronic devices and forms are kept secure
* Returning completed Census forms to the ABS
