Senior Genebank Scientist Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Genebank Scientist to join the Australian Grains Genebank (AGG) team. The AGG is the national center for grain crop genetic resources, with a mandate to acquire, conserve and distribute these resources to underpin the development of more resilient and productive grain crop varieties.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership in research and innovation to improve plant genetic resource conservation, management and utilisation outcomes.
* Develop and manage research projects across agricultural grain crops in a research development and management capacity, including experimental design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
* Establish collaborative relationships with industry and research institutions at state, national and international levels.
* Manage genebank inventory, curate and maintain germplasm collections.
* Conduct scientific field-based research projects, including experimental design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Requirements
* PhD in agriculture or related field.
* At least 5 years post-doctoral research experience in agriculture or related field.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prepare high-quality reports and peer-reviewed publications.
* Experience working in ex-situ genebank seed systems and germplasm conservation, curation and maintenance.
