We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic in-house Web Application Developer to join our dynamic team located in Buderim, nestled among the leafy rainforests of the Sunshine Coast.
Job Description:
You will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining a web-based application containing educational resources and activities used by teachers and students. The application is based on a PHP server-side framework and encompasses front-end interactivity using JavaScript. You will collaborate closely with our in-house cross-functional team, including other developers, UI/UX, designers, animators, content creators, and educational visionaries, to deliver high-quality end-to-end software solutions.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain scalable, responsive web applications
* Implement new features and progressive enhancements, ensuring a seamless user experience and adhering to best practices in software development
* Work closely with the design team to translate wireframes and mockups into efficient, visually appealing interfaces
* Work with the product teams to understand requirements and contribute to the overall strategic product roadmap
* Optimise applications for speed and scalability, ensuring effective performance across various devices and browsers
* Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability
* Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications, identifying and resolving any issues or bugs
* Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously improving your technical skills and knowledge.
Base requirements:
* Efficient, disciplined, relevant coding experience (ideally 5+ years) developing and maintaining full-stack web applications using modern frameworks and libraries
* Strong proficiency in PHP with a good understanding of MVC frameworks (preferably CodeIgniter), OOP and inheritance
* Proficiency in JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS (including CSS3 and pre-processors such as LESS/SCSS) and related web technologies
* Knowledge of SQL
* Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for writing clean, maintainable code
* Excellent communication skills, able to receive, and provide, constructive feedback
* Ability to see the big picture, and a strong desire to understand and meet customer needs.
Bonus skills you should definitely tell us about:
* Experience working with Agile methodologies or processes
* Proven success in project managing key tasks or sub projects
* Experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS)
* Knowledge of full LAMP stack
* Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipeline.

This is an office-based role at our beautiful rainforest location in Buderim. The position is full-time, available immediately. Our hours are currently 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday, as Firefly Education is participating in a 4-day work week (4DWW) trial. Find out more here:
