Talent Focus are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Underground and Surface Electricians to join our team across various sites in the Bowen Basin. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in underground coal mining operations. You will work closely with other trades and site personnel to ensure the electrical integrity of mining equipment and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and fault finding on underground electrical systems and equipment (e.g., conveyors, substations, pumps, fans, longwall machinery, etc.) Install and commission new electrical infrastructure and equipment in compliance with mine site standards and electrical codes Carry out inspections, testing, and tagging of electrical systems to ensure compliance with QLD mining regulations and AUS standards Monitor and manage electrical safety and hazard controls in underground environments Liaise with engineering, production, and HSE teams across multiple sites Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives Comply with all site procedures and requirements, including site access and reporting protocols when moving between sites Requirements: Queensland Electrical License Coal Experience Underground Coal Mine experience (essential) Current Standard 11 Statement of Attainment Coal Board Medical (Section 4) – current or willing to obtain Low Voltage Rescue and CPR (within 12 months) High level of fault-finding and troubleshooting ability The Ability to pass a pre-employment medical Ability to work independently and adapt to different site environments and teams Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential): EEHA (Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas) certification High Voltage Switching qualification Certificate IV in Instrumentation or equivalent Working at Heights / Confined Space tickets What We Offer: Competitive hourly rates penalties Career development opportunities across multiple operations A strong safety-first culture with well-established procedures Opportunity for full-time or ongoing casual employment
