Lead Western Sydney University's domestic student recruitment strategy, driving enrolment growth, engagement and equitable access across diverse student cohorts.

The Opportunity

Western Sydney University is seeking an experienced Director, Domestic Student Recruitment to lead one of the University's most critical strategic portfolios at a time of significant opportunity and change in the higher education sector.

This is a senior leadership role targeting a student-centred and data-driven leader who can design and deliver sophisticated recruitment strategies that attract, engage and convert diverse domestic student cohorts in an increasingly competitive market.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will have accountability for domestic student recruitment strategy, outreach, and lead generation, while championing equity, access and widening participation across Western Sydney's diverse communities.

What Success Looks Like:

* Lead the domestic recruitment strategy across all cohorts, including school leavers, non-school leavers, parents and influencers, Indigenous students and students from equity backgrounds.
* Drive lead generation, working in close partnership with Marketing, Market Insights, Data, Call Centre and Faculties to optimise the full recruitment funnel.
* Build and oversee a high-impact engagement and events program, spanning school outreach, career fairs, on-campus experiences and community-based initiatives.
* Use market intelligence, analytics and ROI evaluation to inform decisions, refine strategy and identify opportunities for differentiation.
* Play a central role in advancing the University's equity and Indigenous participation objectives, partnering with Indigenous leadership and overseeing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pathways Program.
* Manage significant outreach funding, ensuring compliance, performance reporting and alignment with strategic enrolment priorities.
* Lead and develop a large, multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
* Contribute to budget planning, forecasting and financial management for a complex, high-profile portfolio.
* Build trusted relationships with senior academic and professional leaders, as well as key external partners including schools, TAFE, the Department of Education and community organisations.
* This role sits at the intersection of strategy, brand, data, community impact and operational delivery, and is pivotal to the University's future growth.

About You

* You're a strategic, commercially minded leader with a strong track record in student recruitment or a comparable complex environment.
* A relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification, with extensive experience in student recruitment or a comparable large-scale customer acquisition environment.
* A proven track record of delivering KPI-driven recruitment outcomes in higher education or a similarly complex sector.
* Strong experience engaging diverse, multicultural and Indigenous communities, with a genuine commitment to access and equity.
* Advanced analytical capability, using data and insights to drive decision-making and measure impact.
* Demonstrated success leading large teams and complex programs, including major events and outreach initiatives.
* Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work credibly at executive level.
* The leadership maturity to navigate change, manage competing priorities and deliver results in a highly competitive and regulated environment.
