The opportunity
This permanent full‐time role plays a key role in shaping our workforce across head office and international operations (Mali – Africa) to contribute to the long‐term success of the Project through sound people practices.
Assist in leading the delivery of a practical, contemporary people strategy that supports performance and sustainable growth
Oversee and support HR governance, policies and practices are compliant, fit‐for‐purpose and value‐adding to meet the needs of Mali operations and Australian head office
Partner closely with senior leaders, across both Mali and Australia, as a trusted advisor on people and workforce matters
Provide guidance and support to the HR team in Mali, helping them deliver against operational priorities with focus on:
* Strategic workforce planning
* Establishing and embedding effective HR systems
* Supporting HR operations in complex, cross‐border environments
* Strengthen organisational culture and capability while proactively identifying and mitigating risk
Flexible working arrangements, with some afternoon or evening availability required to connect with Mali time zones
Comfortable with People management and the employee life cycle matters
About you
* Bachelor's degree or similar in human resources, law psychology or commerce
* 6+ experience in Human Resources
* 3 + years of experience in mining operation
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage conflict resolution and disciplinary processes.
* Ability to think strategically with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of using HR data and insights to inform decisions.
* Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, modern awards, and HR best practices.
* Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures
* Strong demonstrated people and communication skills to support remote work site
* Strong training and mentoring skills with the ability to develop an effective team.
* Experience working across international borders, with experience working with African nations highly desirable.
* Experience working in a start up mining companies
* Experience navigating Ex Patriate Employment structures
* Experience in implementing HRIS systems from the ground up.
