About the Opportunity
Join our growing Henderson team delivering PQC inspections, witnessing and testing services. Working closely with ASC teams and approved subcontractors, you will support Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) and workshop schedules while ensuring work is completed to required quality standards.
The role is internally customer‑focused, requiring clear communication of PQC requirements and outcomes to stakeholders. You will maintain independence in inspection activities and contribute to continuous improvement across quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities
* Surface treatment inspection.
* Undertake PQC Dimensional inspections, pressure testing, metal loss inspections, Pressure Vessel inspections, witnessing, process/weld audits and testing in line with CCSM requirements.
* Delivery of PQC services and witnessing/verification activities.
* Report writing (electronic, Word & Excel).
* Review of quality documentation on Collins Class Submarines (CCSMs).
* Liaise with engineering personnel, production, trades and contractors when items are not meeting the quality standard in support of non-conformances to allow work to meet technical / quality requirements.
* Ensure compliance with any reasonable instructions, comply with WHS policies, maintain knowledge of and compliance with all CMS policies, procedures and processes.
About you
* Relevant Trade or Engineering qualification.
* Desirable PQC Qualifications: Metrology CMM Experience, CIP / NACE, Corrosion Technology, AICIP Pressure Vessel Inspections, Cert 10 or CSWIP 3.1 or above.
* Desirable: Diploma / Certificate qualifications in Quality / Auditing or similar qualifications.
* Dynamic, hands‑on environment requiring physical capability, risk awareness, and professionalism.
* Confined Space (some areas are heavily restricted for access and movement within).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Experience working in a Submarine/Heavy Industry environment.
* Due to the inherit nature involved with submarines maintenance your working environment will involve entering confined spaces and restricted access. Previous experience is desirable.
* Sound knowledge of metrology and experienced in conduct of dimensional inspections using standard methods and advanced laser tracker/ CMM methods.
* Ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels.
* Flexibility in methods of approach to resolving problems.
* Ability to interpret Work Instruction, Drawings & Standards.
* Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Familiarity with Coordinate Measurement Machine, AICIP Pressure Vessel Inspection, WTIA or CSWIP inspection Certificate / Cert 10 Weld supervision - desirable.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
