Overview

Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT) — Full‐time (100%), Permanent position. Base salary range $104,616.68–$113,920.12 + 17% super (HEW Level7). Based at our StLucia Campus in Brisbane.

Responsibilities

* Workplace Health, Safety and Wellness (HSW): Lead initiatives that improve workplace health, safety and operational efficiency; advise stakeholders on WHS responsibilities, management plans and best practice; support reporting and risk management activities; provide guidance on laboratory and research risk assessments in line with UQ policies and legislation; contribute to and support WHS committees; ensure ongoing compliance with Queensland WHS requirements.
* Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator: Coordinate HSW priorities across the Faculty; ensure alignment with UQ policies and procedures; act as the WHS Coordinator for the Faculty office; support inspections, induction, training and risk management activities; investigate incidents; coordinate audits and inspections to drive continuous safety improvements.
* Facilities: Provide support and assistance to the Facilities Coordinator and Facilities Team when required; collaborate with the HSW team on facility‐related safety matters.

Qualifications

Relevant bachelor's degree with at least 4years' experience, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive relevant expertise; formal qualification in health and safety or a related discipline; strong knowledge of WHS principles, practices and legislation across diverse university environments; demonstrated understanding of key hazards including chemicals, equipment, manual handling, occupational hygiene and psychosocial risks; excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; high‐level computer skills and ability to quickly learn internal systems; proven ability to interpret legislation, develop policies and procedures, and work independently with sound judgement; ability to lead in challenging situations and work collaboratively; preferably hold or obtain First Aid certification.
