Are you a curious problem-solver who enjoys working with data? Do you want to use your analytical skills to make a meaningful difference in Australia's health, aged care and disability sectors? Join a team where your work contributes directly to improving services and outcomes.
We're seeking a data-driven graduate who enjoys solving complex problems and wants to use their analytical skills to support better outcomes in health, aged care and disability services.
What do we do?
We design, cost, and evaluate programs and services in health, disability and aged care. Our work helps governments, insurers, hospitals, and service providers make evidence-based decisions that improve the lives of millions of Australians.
A typical day at HealthConsult
As a Consultant at HealthConsult, your days will revolve around gathering, processing, and analysing data to drive improvements in health and aged care. Here's what you might experience in a typical day:
* 9:00 AM: Review data collection progress for the Residential Aged Care Cost Collection. You check response rates from 120 residential aged care services and use tools such as Power BI, Excel or R to monitor completeness and quality.
* 10:00 AM: Analyse large-scale population health datasets. Using R, Python or SQL, you examine demographic trends, health outcomes and social determinants to generate insights that may inform public health strategies in Australia.
* 11:30 AM: Work with the project team to refine the data collection methodology for a national experience survey. You use Qualtrics and spreadsheet tools to test sampling approaches and ensure representation of diverse resident groups.
* 1:00 PM: Clean and preprocess a new batch of data from the staffing quality indicators pilot study. You use R or Python (pandas) to prepare the dataset for statistical testing of indicator validity and reliability.
* 2:30 PM: Conduct preliminary analysis of the staffing data. You run descriptive and inferential analyses using R, Stata or Python to identify emerging trends in staffing levels across aged care facilities.
* 4:00 PM: Join a team meeting to discuss your initial findings. You share results—often visualised in Power BI, ggplot (R) or matplotlib (Python)—and work with colleagues to explore the implications for aged care policy.
* 5:00 PM: Wrap up the day by documenting your analysis steps, updating project records and planning your next tasks.
Throughout the day, you'll be immersed in data, using your analytical skills to uncover insights that will shape the future of health, disability and aged care in Australia. You'll work with diverse datasets, from financial records and staffing information to survey responses and quality indicators.
Some days might involve fieldwork, where you'll assist in collecting primary data from health, disability and/or aged care providers. Other days might be spent deep in analysis, using advanced analytical techniques to extract meaningful patterns from complex datasets.
You'll have opportunities to enhance your data analysis skills through regular training sessions and mentoring. Whether it's learning new analytical methods, mastering data visualisation techniques, or exploring machine learning applications in healthcare, HealthConsult is committed to your growth as an analyst.
