About the role
Do you have a passion for cooking and love to build meaningful relationships with people?
The position is based at Lanterns House – a homey art deco house in Belmont, where our Find & Connect Support Service and Forced Adoption Support Service are based.
We are a small team who are dedicated to supporting our members who have very diverse, interesting lives and who have been impacted by trauma.
Our members love getting together at regular events, morning teas and luncheons.
They love a good conversation, a few laughs and yummy food.
We need someone who would love to shop for and cook tasty treats for the social gatherings at the house.
The current vacancy is 10 hours per week.
Skills, experience, and qualifications
Ability to prepare a variety of quality meals efficiently, and within high food hygiene standards of practice.
Ability to maintain kitchen and function areas to a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and order, and to adhere to workplace safety principals.
Warm, welcoming, engaging manner, creating a welcoming considerate environment for all attending.
Understanding of and commitment to client confidentiality, privacy, and dignity.
Good communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to relate to a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds, and trauma experiences.
A knowledge and understanding of the experience of Forced Adoption and Forgotten Australians, Former Child Migrants.
