Environmental Partner – Prawns & Barramundi Operations
Proserpine + Travel to Yamba, Broome & Mission Beach
Join Tassal’s high-performing Environment team and help shape the future of sustainable aquaculture across some of Australia’s most beautiful coastal regions. As our Environmental Partner, you’ll play a key role in driving environmental performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, and building strong on-the-ground relationships with our operational teams.
Based at our Proserpine Prawn Farm, you’ll enjoy a Monday–Friday roster, giving you plenty of time to soak up the lifestyle of the Whitsundays. The role also includes periodic travel to support our Barramundi and Prawn operations in Yamba, Broome, and Mission Beach, adding variety and scope to your work.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Environmental Partner, you’ll be both a technical specialist and a trusted collaborator across multiple sites, with responsibilities including:
Environmental Delivery & Compliance
* Drive environmental compliance across prawn and barramundi operations.
* Support the preparation of audit evidence for internal, external, and third‑party certification audits.
* Assist with compliance monitoring activities and ongoing improvements in environmental performance.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
* Develop and implement environmental documentation and technical reports.
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
* Apply your analytical mindset to environmental and operational data to help identify trends and opportunities.
Site Engagement & Stakeholder Interaction
* Build strong connections with frontline teams, supervisors, and senior leaders across all sites.
* Present at meetings and toolbox sessions, clearly communicating the why behind environmental practices and their value to our business.
* Conduct regular site inspections across multiple locations.
About You
You’re someone who thrives both in the field and in the office—comfortable working with data, writing reports, and throwing on boots to get out on site. You love building relationships, educating others, and helping people understand how good environmental practices support great farming outcomes.
What You’ll Bring:
* A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar.
* 2+ years’ experience in an environmental management role—ideally with exposure to water quality or aquaculture-related environments.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with all levels of the workforce.
* Experience building stakeholder relationships and influencing positive change.
* Ability to analyse, interpret, and communicate environmental data.
* Experience with Environmental Management Systems (desirable).
* A current driver’s licence, reliable transport, and willingness to travel across sites (including interstate).
* Coxswains NC2 (desirable)
