GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 180 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

Position Purpose
The Financial Accountant must provide professional accounting services to GEGAC assisting the Senior Manager Business & Finance with high level accounting, reporting, taxation and grant acquittal skills, ensuring GEGAC general ledger reconciliations are in accordance with accounting standards and ATO requirements. Funding milestones are recorded. Contribute to the finance team's funding, reporting and audit requirements. Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Finance Officer role.
Key Selection Criteria
•Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards (AASB, GAAP etc), with relevant work experience in accounting roles. Work experience in a NFP is desirable, but not a requirement.
•Demonstrated experience in financial and management reporting, including budgeting, analysis, forecasting and liaison with budget owners.
•Demonstrated experience in maintaining an accurate general ledger and performing reconciliations.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Solid understanding of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central desirable)
•Strong excel skills and an aptitude for data analysis with high levels of attention to detail,
•Understanding of not-for- profit operations and culture including ACNC standard accounts and reporting expectations.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
•Degree qualification in accounting/finance ESSENTIAL
•Working towards a CPA, ACMA, CGMA or CA registration or equivalent ESSENTIAL
•Valid driver's licence ESSENTIAL
•Current First Aid and CPR Certifications (or willingness to obtain) ESSENTIAL
•A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
•A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE
•Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
