**About Pre-Analytical Support - Pathology**
- The Pre-Analytical Support Department is a specialised team of problem-solvers and analytical operators, playing a critical role in optimising the quality and reliability of our pathology services. As a vital link between patients, clinicians, and laboratories, our team manages complex troubleshooting, data analysis, reporting, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, adaptable, and proactive Pre-Analytical Support Officer to join our department in a full-time, fixed-term position at Austin Pathology's Heidelberg Laboratory.
**About the role**
- In this position, as a Pre-Analytical Support Officer, you will play a key role within our dynamic pathology services team. Reporting to the Pre-Analytical Support Supervisor, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate management of pre-analytical processes, including preparing recollects, performing data analysis and reporting, and providing essential support for the business. You will be the first point of contact for enquiries from laboratories, collectors, patients, healthcare provides, and other stakeholders, responding with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication.
- Supports Pre-Analytical Operations
- Performs Administrative and Investigative duties
- Monitors and analyses Data for KPI reporting
- Manages enquiries and Stakeholder liaison
**About you**
- As the Pathology Pre-Analytical Support Officer, you are an organised and detail-oriented professional with experience in a pathology or clinical laboratory environment. You take pride in your accuracy and your ability to follow strict protocols, ensuring the highest standards of quality and confidentiality. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills enable you to respond to enquiries from patients, clinicians, and colleagues with empathy and professionalism.
You thrive in a fast-paced setting, can adapt to changing priorities, and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You have a solid understanding of laboratory information systems and are confident in your ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and support process improvements. Above all, you are committed to supporting excellent patient care and contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our pathology services.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- Experience working in a pathology or clinical laboratory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability in root-cause analysis and complaint resolution within a pathology and/or healthcare setting.
- Formal qualifications in science, laboratory techniques, pathology collection, or a related field (desirable).
- Experience of collection processes (desirable).
- Customer service experience, particularly in healthcare or laboratory settings (desirable).
