Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
We are seeking a casual Receptionist to work within our Emergency Department. To be considered for this role you will be required to participate in a 24 hour, 7 days per week working roster.
You will be responsible for providing a high standard of support and assistance to patients, visitors and caregivers and directing queries accordingly.
The Position
* Participate in handover between shifts
* Coordinate telephone calls and messages promptly and professionally.
* Maintain patient records ensuring accuracy and currency of details
* Assist patients, visitors and general public with enquiries and directions.
* Receive and create pre-admission forms, checking health insurance details and notifying patient of any extra charges they may incur.
* Admit new admissions for the day.
* Distribute and coordinate ingoing and ongoing mail and faxes.
* Photocopying and other duties as required.
* Coordinate with the Manager, HIS or Hospital Coordinator of any problems encountered whilst of duty.
* Maintains cordial relations with patients, family, all ancillary staff and other members of the department.
* Work with Doctors and Nurses, helping with any admin task they may need.
You will have superior communication skills with the ability to relate to hospital staff, patients, families and medical staff. You will have a knowledge of medical terminology and excellent attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
To succeed you will have the ability to prioritise and multitask a busy and varied workload with experience in the health industry highly regarded.

* Salary $36.48 to $37.53 per hour (includes casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
