Project Electrical and Controls Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Project Electrical and Controls Engineer to lead critical projects that power our gas processing operations in Melbourne. This is a 2-year fixed-term contract.


About the Role:

* Manage end-to-end delivery of EI&C projects from design to execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
* Lead upgrades and maintenance for LV/HV electrical systems, DCS, PLCs, SCADA, and instrumentation, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
* Troubleshoot and resolve system failures to improve reliability and performance, leveraging technical expertise to drive business outcomes.
* Ensure compliance with Australian standards and hazardous area requirements, maintaining a strong focus on safety and regulatory adherence.
* Collaborate with site teams, OEMs, and contractors to deliver safe and efficient outcomes, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
* Contribute to continuous improvement in automation, power distribution, and plant control systems, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
* Support HAZOPs, SIL assessments, and shutdown planning, providing technical input and guidance to ensure seamless project execution.
* Review and develop technical documentation and scopes of work, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all project-related materials.
* Support Management of Change (MoC) processes and project risk assessments, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks.


About You:

* Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering, with a strong academic foundation in relevant disciplines.
* 7+ years' EI&C experience in oil & gas, energy, or heavy industry, demonstrating a proven track record of success in similar roles.
* RPEV (Electrical) registered, with a strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations.
* Strong background in control systems, hazardous area compliance, and Ex-rated equipment, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
* Proven experience delivering projects in complex operational and hazardous environments, with excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability.
* Solid understanding of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 60079, and other relevant industry standards, ensuring compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability and willingness to travel to site, with a flexible approach to working hours and locations.
