Gekko Systems Pty Ltd & Gaia Envirotech Pty Ltd

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team. This role plays a critical part in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial governance, and providing timely insights that enable informed business decision-making. You will work across both Gekko Systems and Gaia Envirotech, supporting operational and strategic outcomes. While this position is ideally full-time, part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities

* Work cross-functionally to source financial information and complete month-end processes, including invoicing, revenue recognition, project costing, and monthly financial reporting, ensuring all timelines are met.
* Perform administrative tasks including entry of journals, purchase orders and payment receipts.
* Prepare management reports and financial analysis to support teams in budget management and monitoring monthly performance.
* Complete monthly account and sub-ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances as required.
* Support our Finance Manager with strategic analysis, financial review, and reporting activities.
* Assist with the annual budget planning process, including financial analysis and forecasting for Gekko Systems Pty Ltd and Gaia Envirotech Pty Ltd.
* Partner with Managers to improve financial awareness, cost control, and expense management.
* Provide accurate and timely information to support the annual audit process in line with audit plans and schedules.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant Australian and international accounting standards, legislation, and corporate and external reporting frameworks.
* Assist in the preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
* Develop and maintain standard operating procedures related to performance monitoring, budget reviews, data collection, and performance measures.
* Provide support across all areas of the Finance function, including Financial Accounting and Accounts Payable, as required.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance finance systems, processes, and controls.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

* A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CA or CPA qualification, or progress toward, is desirable).
* Minimum three to five years' experience in a similar Accountant role, with strong exposure to month-end processes, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
* Experience within the Manufacturing, Mining or Engineering industry is preferred.
* Experience with fully integrated ERP systems such as Pronto, SAP or similar is also preferred.
* Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements (knowledge of international standards is advantageous).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate variances and provide meaningful financial insights.
* Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business performance and decision-making.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
* Ability to work cross-functionally and effectively partner with Managers to improve financial awareness and cost control.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
* A proactive approach to continuous improvement, including the development and enhancement of finance processes and systems.
* Experience supporting audits and preparing information in line with audit plans and schedules.
