We are looking for a Practice Cleaner to join our team and work 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday 6.30-9.30pm & 1 Saturday per week.
The role involves maintaining high hygiene standards by cleaning and sanitizing clinical and non-clinical areas, including toilets, waiting rooms, and offices, following strict infection control and health & safety guidelines (like COSHH). Key duties include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, emptying clinical waste bins, replenishing supplies (paper towels, soap), and reporting faults, all while ensuring patient confidentiality and respecting their privacy.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
* General Cleaning:Vacuuming carpets, damp mopping hard floors, dusting surfaces, cleaning internal glass and mirrors, and cleaning reception/waiting areas.
* Sanitizing:Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, wet areas, and potentially computer/telephony equipment.
* Waste Management:Safely emptying, cleaning, and relining clinical and general waste bins, adhering to specific colour-coding and disposal regulations.
* Stock Control:Replenishing consumables like toilet rolls, hand towels, and soap, and monitoring stock levels.
* Infection Control:Diligently following COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and infection control procedures, using correct chemical dilutions.
* Reporting:Promptly reporting any equipment faults, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to management (e.g., Practice Manager).

Earle Road Medical Centre has 2 GP Practices within the building, consisting of 15 clinical rooms.The Practices are open Monday 8am-6.30pm, Tuesday 8am-8pm, Wednesday 8am-8pm, Thursday 8am-6.30pm & Friday 8am - 8pm.

Vacuuming of mats
Replenishing supplies of soap, paper towels, toilet rolls and waste disposal bags
Ensuring that all cleaning equipment used is cleaned in preparation for the next day
Reporting of faulty cleaning equipment and any conditions that may require attention to the Practice Manager
Effectively monitor and report stock levels of cleaning materials, and place appropriate orders before stocks are exhausted to Office Manager
Washing and disinfecting waste bins where necessary
Follow and adhere to Health and Safety procedures
To adhere to the cleaning regimens put in place to ensure regular timely cleaning is undertaken
Recording the cleaning of each specific area of work as necessitated by the business
Undertake any other cleaning tasks that may occasionally be required on a periodic basis, prior notification will be given.
Cleaning of the following, Hard and soft floor surfaces, Toilets, Kitchen areas and Telephony and computer equipment.
Collecting and bagging of general waste and putting ready for disposal.
Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
Ensuring that only approved cleaning substances are used within the Practice.
Ensuring that COSHH Data Sheets are used for all substances as appropriate especially those with hazard symbols.
Ensuring a full compliance to infection control policies and procedures.
Undertake any other cleaning tasks/ any further duties relevant to the role.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous cleaning experience preferred but training would be given to the right candidate.
* Ability to work independently.
* Infection control experience.
* Experience of working in a GP practice/ Hospital setting.
