A leader in the Korean rail industry, HRC has succeeded in developing high-speed trains and is now establishing their presence in the Australian market.
The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) - a project commissioning, designing and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea Qld and a new maintenance facility in Ormau Qld. It includes manufacturing and delivering 65 EMU Train sets (390 cars) by the end of ****.
Combined local and international design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and associated documentation to ensure that train sets locally manufactured in Australia meet the design, compliance, manufactuability, reliability, maintainability and safety specifications for the trains operational life for a minimum of at least 35 years.
About the Role
We are hiring a BRAND NEW team for one of the biggest rail projects at our Torbanlea Manufacturing Facility Site and seeking a Supplier Quality Manager to be responsible for ensuring that all externally supplied materials, components, and services meet contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements. You will lead a team of Supplier Quality Inspectors, conduct supplier audits, resolve major quality issues, and ensure full compliance with HRC Quality Management Systems and applicable Rail Safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality Oversight
Coordinate and manage all subcontractor quality activities at TMF
Conduct incoming inspections of components delivered by suppliers
Review and verify supplier documentation, including certificates and test reports
Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions
Audits & Compliance
Plan and execute supplier quality audits and inspections across Australia
Ensure compliance with HRC QMS, Rail Safety National Law (Queensland), and relevant project requirements
Monitor and report on supplier performance against agreed processes and specifications
Lead and resolve major supplier manufacturing quality issues
Develop and implement action plans for process-related quality concerns
Collaborate with subcontractors and internal stakeholders to drive timely resolution
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate quality records, including NCRs, audit findings, inspection reports, and supplier documentation
Prepare and present regular performance reports to management and key stakeholders
About You
Minimum 5 years' experience in Quality Management (rollingstock or heavy manufacturing desirable)
Proven experience managing supplier/subcontractor quality in a complex project environment
Strong understanding of material controls, warehousing, and manufacturing processes
ISO**** Auditor qualification (highly regarded)
Ability to interpret mechanical and/or electrical drawings
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Proficiency in documentation, quality reporting, and standard software tools
Flexibility to travel as required for audits
Desirable, but not essential: Korean language skills
