THE ROLE
The Principal Project Planner is a key role in the Project Planning team and is responsible for leading design-led projects to inform social and affordable housing growth and development outcomes on Homes Victoria land. The successful applicant will establish and lead master planning and strategic planning projects across the whole project lifecycle, including establishing project plans and programs, procuring and managing multi-disciplinary consultant teams, leading engagement with internal and external stakeholders and providing strategic and design advice to inform Homes Victoria's pipeline of social and affordable housing growth opportunities.
A strong understanding of urban design and significant strategic planning, urban design, or architecture experience on complex projects is required. You will also bring to the role a track record of managing teams to deliver concurrent projects within complex stakeholder environments, a team-oriented and collaborative mindset, and excellent writing and presentation skills to support briefings to Senior Management and relevant Ministers at key project phases. A sound understanding of the public sector environment is preferred.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Initiate, lead and manage large and highly complex master planning, design and strategic planning projects with a large number of stakeholders, often with competing objectives.
- Lead the delivery of strategic planning, master planning, feasibility and design advice to inform future social and affordable housing growth by:
a) Leading research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.
b) Managing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
c) Ongoing monitoring, evaluation and reporting on projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
- Lead authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
