We're now looking for a hands‐on Residential Designer to join our Product Development team.
This is not a people management role.This is not a client‐facing architect role.
This is for someone who wants to design.Someone who can understand and visualise how a design, floor plan, or facade will appeal to our diverse mix of clientele.
Office‐based role in Derrimut (Melbourne Western Suburbs)

About the role:
You will be responsible for creating and refining floor plans and facades across our portfolio, working within a high‐volume environment where great design must also be buildable, compliant, and commercially sound.
This role will work across a wide range of Greenfields, KDRB, and Medium Density homes.
The role operates on an 80% design delivery / 20% internal collaboration model.
That means most of your time is spent producing quality design work, with the remainder contributing ideas and improvements through structured design review and product forums.
What you will be doing:
Design Delivery: Core Focus
* Design functional, compliant residential floor plans that maximise liveability, efficiency, and buyer appeal.
* Develop and refine contemporary facade outcomes aligned to Mirrastone's brand and market position.
* Improve and evolve existing designs to enhance constructability and cost performance.
* Produce clear design outputs ready for drafting and downstream delivery.
Product Contribution
* Bring forward practical ideas and enhancements that can be implemented at scale.
* Participate in internal Design Review and R&D discussions.
* Apply feedback constructively and work within established design standards and governance pathways.
Collaboration:
* Work closely with drafting, estimating, construction, and compliance teams.
* Ensure that what looks good on paper can be delivered efficiently on site.

About You
You are a proven residential designer who:
* Has solid experience designing both floor plans and facades
* Understands NCC, planning considerations, and real‐world buildability
* Thrives in a fast‐paced, output‐driven environment
* Enjoys contributing ideas, but is happiest with sleeves rolled up, designing
* Works well inside structured review and approval processes
* Architecture background – highly regarded
* Local Australian experience is a MUST.
Typically, successful candidates come with 3–7 years of residential design experience, often from a volume or project builder.
