An exciting opportunity for an experienced Printer (Press operator) to join our team in Melbourne operating various 6 and 8 colour Heidelberg Presses with Cutstar reel fed units. The equipment features the latest inbuilt image control for complete colour management.
This permanent full-time position will initially commence on Day Shift during onboarding period working 12-hour rosters (3 days per week) and then moving to permanent Night Shift Wednesday to Friday (6pm-6am) working a 36-hour compressed work week. Main Duties
Operate Heidelberg XL printing presses
Operate Heidelberg Die Cutter
Ensure compliance to safety, quality and production standards
Interpret job tickets and requirements
Check production against determined quality specifications
Perform film and print quality checks
Carry out changeovers with minimal downtime and waste
Lead and guide printer's assistants to perform tasks on press
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or printing issues promptly
Work collaboratively with prepress and finishing departments to ensure seamless production
Support plant initiatives and directives
Capture required data and feedback information
Essential Skills
Ability to use and read basic print and colour measurement devices
Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook
Must be able to follow detailed instruction for training and quality purposes
Able to work in a team environment
Physically fit
Good communicator with excellent organisational skills
Maintain some mechanical and technical understanding of printing press
Knowledge of colour management
A willingness to work flexibly
An awareness of Health & Safety issues
Progressive printing experience
Full knowledge of print press operations
Full knowledge of press colour control
Responsibilities

Ensure quality standards are delivered
Assist in maintaining equipment
Communication / direction of support team
Qualifications
Completed a Printing Trade Certificate or equivalent knowledge
Experience
Previous experience on a Heidelberg Printing Press, with desired exposure to Cutstar units is preferred
Proficiency in operating & running multi-colour presses
Efficient time management and commitment to deadlines
The applicant needs to be well versed in all areas of press operation and may need to undergo additional training in the use and handling of plastic substrates.
