About the Role

The Media & Communications Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Club's day-to-day delivery of media, communications and public relations activity.

You'll assist in shaping the Club's public voice, fostering relationships with the media, and ensuring consistent, clear and positive communication across all platforms.

Reporting to the Media and Communications Manager, this position will contribute to proactive media engagement, matchday media operations, and support key Club personnel.

Responsibilities

* Assist with the daily operations of the department
* Coordinating media requests and queries for the Club, talent across football programs, including matchday media
* Assist to implement Club media strategy
* Prepare and distribute Club media alerts and releases
* Brief talent and work closely with the AFL and AFLW football departments and key spokespeople to ensure key messaging is in line with Club's brand and key strategic objectives
* Work proactively & collaboratively with key internal stakeholders on internal Club communications and dates of significance
* Lead proactive generation of stories across all aspects of the Club to enhance Club brand including community, partnerships, Foundation,
* Support the Media and Communications Manager at AFL and AFLW matchdays including briefing players and assistant coaches and working collaboratively with the AFL, host TV broadcaster, radio and print media
* Manage Club media opportunities to maximise positive exposure
* Keep abreast of current issues and news stories across the entire AFL landscape
* Provide media relations support to the VFL and VFLW programs
* Work proactively and collaboratively with the Club digital and content team on ideas and communications
* Support with communications plans on Club events
* Travel with AFL and AFLW team as required
* Available for media enquiries outside of traditional work hours.

About You

You are an enthusiastic and proactive emerging media professional who is eager to build your experience in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. With a genuine interest in sport and storytelling, you bring strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a positive, calm approach.

You will also have:

* A tertiary qualification in Media, Communications, Journalism or similar.
* Previous experience in a media or communications role, experience in sport is favourable.
* Strong written capability
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships.
