Introduction ABOUT US Born out of the role and value of sport and the influence the North Melbourne Kangaroos plays in connecting people across different ages, genders and cultures; The Huddle was established in 2010 as the community arm of the Club in partnership with the Scanlon Foundation and the Australian Multicultural Foundation. It was established to engage, support and empower young people to build on their strengths, increase their ability to participate in society and contribute to more socially inclusive communities. The Huddle works with some of the most iconic sporting clubs in the world to help young people learn, grow and belong. Through the design of its innovative programs, The Huddle leverages the power of sport to strengthen social inclusion, education and careers for young people. Description ABOUT THE ROLE The key objective of the Program Officer is to deliver and facilitate The Huddle's sport and recreation programs to women in communities across various sites in Queensland, predominantly in the Brisbane Metropolitan region. Reporting to the Program Lead - Huddle Up in Community Hubs, this role is responsible for: Facilitating Huddle Up sessions as per the lesson plan provided by the Program Lead Act as a positive role model and actively encourage participants to reach their potential through sport and recreation Facilitate and maintain a safe, productive, inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants, taking into account diverse lived experiences Build rapport and communicate, consult and co-operate with parents and guardians to ensure the best interest of participants Complete administration tasks such as risk assessments, data collection of participants, session reviews and incident reports as necessary Regularly exchange knowledge and information with The Huddle staff to provide feedback that will ensure Huddle programs meet the needs of students, parents and volunteers Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people by adhering to The Huddle's Child Safety Code of Conduct Skills And Experiences OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE We are looking for passionate facilitators who are enthusiastic about community development, have the ability to engage with women and are flexible and reliable in delivering programs. The successful candidate will have the following skills and knowledge: A strong interest in sport and recreation, youth work, social work, education or community development Excellent verbal communication and organisational skills Ability to work independently, show initiative and work under pressure Experience in program facilitation or customer service An understanding of the unique experiences women from migrant and refugee backgrounds face Experience communicating with people who may have limited proficiency in English Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel knowledge is desirable, but training will be available Be over the age of 18 with a current and valid drivers' license (highly desirable) Ability to work onsite at locations across the Brisbane Metropolitan area First aid, Child Safety or Fire Warden qualifications are desirable The successful candidate is required to undergo and pass a police check, and hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) Registration.
