Our team
The Management Accounting function sits within the Finance and Facilities section and is responsible for developing, analysing and reporting on the internal budget of Geoscience Australia.
The Management Accountant, Reporting is responsible for the provision of financial management advice and reporting for the Space Division as a key internal client, as well as developing and enhancing the reporting processes for the Executive Board.
The ability to respond dynamically to changing environments and business needs is required, including changes in priorities, resources, methodologies and government direction. A key priority of the role is to deliver business needs whilst ensuring compliance with Geoscience Australia's financial and governance framework.
You will lead operational activities of the team and contribute to the outcomes of the section and Corporate Division. This role reports to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer (DCFO) and partners closely with the Manager, Management Accounting (EL1).
A values driven approach coupled with the ability to meet expectations, inspire, and work collaboratively with individual professionals and specialists will contribute to the achievement of a successful organisation and diverse workplace culture.
The key duties of the position include
* Provide strategic advice on management accounting issues to senior executives and the Chief Finance Officer and DCFO.
* Provide financial management support, budget and forecast preparation and financial performance monitoring and reporting.
* Drive continuous improvement in budgeting and reporting processes, including an uplift to analytical advice on future financial sustainability challenges.
* Hold responsibility for improvement processes towards best practice standards for workpapers, policies, and compliance with relevant legislation.
* Build the capability of the section through coaching others, knowledge sharing and encouraging development.
* Provide financial accounting guidance and advice to internal and external stakeholders

Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications
* Hold Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) accreditation.
* Baseline clearance is required.
