Financial Accountant
We are partnering with a growing and well‐established construction business seeking a commercially minded Financial Accountant to join their Brisbane head office team.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, project managers, and operational teams to provide meaningful financial insights that support project performance and business decision‐making. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, project accounting, and operational finance activities across the business.
Key responsibilities
* Preparing monthly management reports including P&L and balance sheet reporting
* Delivering variance analysis and providing actionable commercial insights
* Monitoring project costs and revenue to ensure accurate allocation and tracking
* Assisting with work in progress (WIP) reporting and project performance analysis
* Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives
* Partnering with project managers and operational teams to provide financial support and guidance
* Assisting with audits, compliance requirements, and maintaining accurate financial records
* Supporting process improvements, reporting efficiencies, and system enhancements
* Contributing to data integrity and continuous improvement across finance operations
To be successful in this role
* Previous experience within a financial accounting, commercial finance, or project accounting role
* Exposure to construction, engineering, property, or project‐based environments highly regarded
* Strong understanding of financial reporting and project cost analysis
* Excellent analytical and problem‐solving skills
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with operational stakeholders
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* CA/CPA qualified or working towards completion (preferred)
* Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and exposure to ERP systems
