Are you ready to be part of a world-class project that's reshaping Australia's energy future? Snowy 2.0, the largest renewable energy initiative in the country, is an ambitious expansion of the iconic Snowy Scheme. Focused on providing on-demand power and vast storage capacity, this project is paving the way for a sustainable, low-carbon future.


The Role


Based in Cooma, the Senior Environmental Advisor (Rehabilitation) serves as the strategic architect for the project's land restoration legacy. In this leadership capacity, you will drive the design and rollout of rehabilitation management plans across all Snowy 2.0 work areas, taking full ownership of the process from initial planning through to execution.

The role carries end-to-end responsibility for managing specialist suppliers and rehabilitation assets, overseeing rigorous monitoring and maintenance phases to ensure every site meets the exacting standards required for a successful handover to the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).

This 2-year contract is based in Cooma (Monday–Friday). Relocation assistance is available if you're joining us from outside the region.


Key Responsibilities:

* Plan & Adapt: Lead the creation and updates of rehabilitation strategies to ensure they meet all project approvals and regulations.

* Secure Approvals: Coordinate with stakeholders and regulators to get management plans and materials officially signed off.

* Manage Supplies: Oversee the procurement of everything needed for restoration, from seeds and plants to irrigation and erosion control.

* Direct Field Work: Supervise on-ground maintenance, including weeding, pest control, and ensuring construction sites are ready for planting.

* Lead & Mentor: Act as the technical expert for the team, guiding site staff and aligningrehabilitation with the broader constrcution schedule.
* Track Progress: Monitor restoration areas, adjust tactics based on results, and report on how well the land is recovering.


What You'll Bring


A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related discipline, backed with demonstrated experience in renewable energy, mining, civil construction, or utilities. You'll possess a proven track record in planning, scheduling, and monitoring large-scale rehabilitation projects, with a district advantage if you have experience in Australian alpine environments. As a confident and proactive communicator, you excel at engaging stakeholders and remain goal-orientated with a sharp eye for detail. You are an adaptable leader who can navigate changing work environments, identify emerging opportunities, and develop innovative solutions to complex problems while knowing exactly when to collaborate for the best results.
