About the role
Due to an internal promotion, an opportunity exists for a Group Leader - Planning & Landscape Architecture within the South Coast & Sydney Community Development team. You will bring strong commercial and business acumen combined with a proactive leadership approach to ensure we deliver excellent outcomes for our clients, the Stantec brand and overall business outcomes within the South Coast & Sydney market.
Reporting to the Business Leader for South Coast & Sydney, the Group Leader - Planning & Landscape Architecture is responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships and developing business opportunities to grow the Planning and Landscape Architecture teams. Provide team leadership and project prioritisation to team by providing technical expertise to ensure that project outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality standards, meet both the client and Stantec expectations.
Responsibilities include:
* Support the BL & BCOL with monitoring and reporting on the performance of the team.
* Provide input to the BL & BCOL for preparing and implementing annual budgets and business plans.
* Initiate and manage business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships
* Coordinate resource and technical development requirements with Technical & Discipline Leaders and Team Leaders based both locally and in other offices
* Ensure allocated projects and proposals are planned, programmed, and appropriately managed to meet or exceed client expectations
* Participate in projects as either Project Manager, Project Technical Leader or other substantive technical or delivery role OR Be a key member or lead account manager for regional major clients or business line
* Be responsible for team utilisation by effective forecasting, networking, business development and delegation and development of backlog
* Assist with the pursuit of clients and opportunities, project bid preparation, preparing the approach and methodology for the delivery, and assist in pricing and negotiation to secure projects
* Ensure the business delivers work that secures repeat business for valued clients
* Responsible for client relationships, strategic project pursuits and major project leadership within their region
* Review and monitor staff to ensure that performance objectives are being met, staff are engaged, and performance issues are managed promptly
* Review current and forward workload to understand the right shape and distribution of staff to successfully pursue and deliver work.
* Recruitment to fulfil staffing needs and promotion of the Group.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
* Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably post-graduate
* Minimum of 10 years’ related work, leadership, financial management and consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
* Professional registration in a related field
* Experience in managing teams with management duties
* Experience in delivery of complex infrastructure projects
* A broad range of skills covering people management, commercial management, contract negotiations, business development, financial management, project delivery and business management
* Highly developed interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients
* Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills to resolve queries.
