As the Deputy Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager supporting the Joint Defense Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG) in Alice Springs, Australia you will have the responsibility to assist the EHS Manager in overseeing and guiding the EHS team in the operations and programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This will include modification of safety‐related activities and plans to specific contracts in compliance with Australian and U.S. federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. This position relies on extensive experience and judgment to manage and lead a multi‐disciplinary team, execute plans, and accomplish goals.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Instill a safety‐first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost‐time injuries.
* Develop and lead delivery of the short‐ and long‐term performance goals that support the program.
* Coach, guide and advise senior functional and operations partners in EHS requirements to meet legislative and regulatory compliance.
* Create a culture of safety leadership by continually striving for EHS excellence and supporting the development of a strong safety culture relevant to the business.
* Plan, implement, monitor and review all aspects of EHS performance and ensure a program of continual improvement.
* Ensure timely incident reporting and that incidents are investigated to a high standard, classified correctly, and that High Value Learnings are developed where appropriate.
* Drive delivery of the EHS training program to ensure all employees undertake mandatory training.
* Lead the EHS audit program and drive the close‐out of improvement actions.
* Develop plans, procedures, and policies to continuously improve the EHS program.
* Provide support to other functions where they interact with EHS.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
* A relevant Work Health and Safety qualification to Certificate IV minimum (Australian citizens)
* 3–5 years of related experience with managerial/supervisory experience
* U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
* Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain TSPV clearance
* Experience of working to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
* Experience as an incident investigator and EHS auditor
Desirable
* Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification
* ICAM Lead Investigator certification
EXPERIENCE – Minimum Essential
* 3 to 5 years – in a similar role
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

The position involves work typical of a construction environment with associated hazards. Occasional lifting to 10 kg, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing for communication, constant mental alertness, and must possess planning/organizing skills and be able to work under deadlines. Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components. Such positions may involve routine lifting to 22 kg, regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness. This classification may include managing hazardous material or other environmental responsibilities.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top‐Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS
* At least 18 years of age.
* Able to fluently read, write and speak English.
EHS REQUIREMENT
* Completing work tasks in a safe manner.
* Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or PMO/EHS Manager.
* Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the JDFPG Handbook during the performance of their work.
* Red‐Carding a Job – Employee right and responsibility to "STOP WORK" if a job is unsafe or poses a danger to the environment.

Compensation Details:

US: $135,000 – $154,000

The compensation range listed for this position is a good‐faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
