The Role
As the APS 6 Data Manager you will be accountable under broad direction to perform complex data management and administration work within an integrated workforce, whilst ensuring you have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
You will work independently with reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of your work, whilst exercising both initiative and judgement in the interpretation and application of policy and procedures. You will provide detailed data management and professional advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management.
You will utilise your exceptional people management skills to lead a small, high performing team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows, and build the teams capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a your team.
About our Team
The Landing Craft Branch is accountable for acquisitions under the LAND8710 Program, including LAND8710-1 Landing Craft - Medium (LC-M), LAND8710-1B Amphibious Vehicle - Logistics (AV-L) and LAND8710-2 Landing Craft - Heavy (LC-H). The LAND8710 projects are supported by a Program Management Office (PMO) that is responsible for support, governance and assurance functions across the LAND8710 program.
The PMO and Landing Craft Branch comprises professionals from various disciplines and comprises highly skilled and motivated APS, ADF and contracted personnel. The Data Management Team sits within the PMO and ensures the effective, secure, and compliant management of project information across the Branch.
We manage and lead the development of data processes, instructions, and plans that support consistent, policy aligned data practices. We enable the Branch to meet its data obligations by managing the full lifecycle of contract data requirements, including the receipt, distribution, despatch, tracking, workflow management, and documentation of contract deliverables.
Our Ideal Candidate
As the APS 6 Data Manager you will be responsible for but not limited to:
* Manage a small team.
Work with Objective Work Group Coordinators to:
* Define and correct access controls within Objective;
* Arrange the transfer of data to external parties that may include export control connotations;
* Manage the receipt, distribution, dispatch, workflow, tracking and preparation of associated documentation for contract data requirements list material;
* Management and recording of data items through the LAND8710 Group email inboxes;
* Work closely with Project Directors and Executive team on data management within the Branch;
* Engage with stakeholders in key project areas concerning contract data requirements list activities to foster relationship development and support future requirements;
* Ongoing management of Data Management team records within Objective, Outlook, GovTeams and Teams;
* Develop instructions relating to Data Management throughout the Branch;
* Establish and control folder structures; and
* Redesign the corporate file structure to comply with policy and legislation.

Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
