Position overview:


Working within the Membership department, the Membership Assistant will be responsible for entering and maintaining accurate data and the efficient management of emails and phone calls.

Applying excellent customer service and communication skills, the role ensures members receive friendly, professional membership services through face-to-face, phone and email enquiries.

The Geelong office is manned by only one staff member. Trust and honesty as well as the ability to thrive in an autonomous environment are essential skills.

Must be able to attend Melbourne head office when required.


Training/qualifications


2 years minimum admin experience.


Required skills, knowledge, experience & attributes:

* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally & written.
* Have a proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
* Proven customer service experience.
* Excellent phone manner.
* Computer literacy and IT skills including proficiency in Word and Excel.
* Accurate data entry skills.
* An understanding of how the Union works.
* Ability to relate to people and work collaboratively.
* Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality.
* A commitment to union values and social justice.


Role Accountabilities:

* Responding to and actioning membership emails, registrations and payments.
* Face-to-face interaction with members and delegates.
* Process and receipt membership dues and payments with accuracy.
* Preparation of accurate daily balance.
* Depositing weekly cash to the bank.
* Daily archiving of membership documentation.
* Assist CFMEU officials with their administration requirements.
* Arrange external contractors for any office maintenance required.
* Regularly engage with industry partners.
* Maintain & re-order office supplies.
* Co-ordinate meeting room bookings.
* Handling incoming/outgoing mail, packages, and couriers.
* Maintain a clean and tidy office space.
* Ad hoc duties as requested.

This position is full-time office based. There is no opportunity to work from home.
