Selection Criteria
SC1
Knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills; experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2
Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies and evaluating their influence on student learning growth.
SC3
Experience in monitoring, assessing student learning and using data to inform practice and provide feedback to students and parents.
SC4
Interpersonal and communication skills; experience establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community.
SC5
Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, and engagement in continuous professional learning.
Role
The classroom teacher classification includes two salary ranges.
Range 2
Range 2 teachers play a significant role in improving student performance, contributing to policy development, and mentoring other teachers. Key responsibilities include:
Delivering content that meets the diverse needs of all students.
Modeling exemplary practice and mentoring staff to engage in critical reflection.
Providing expert advice on curriculum processes and strategies.
Supervising and training student teachers.
Using student data to inform instruction aligned with improvement targets.
Range 1
Range 1 teachers develop skills to become effective classroom practitioners with structured support. Responsibilities include:
Managing classroom, subject content and teaching practice.
Planning and teaching under guidance, participating in induction and professional learning.
Teaching own classes while assisting in policy development, project teams, and co-curriculum activities.
Responsibilities
Direct teaching of student groups and individual students.
Contributing to curriculum development, implementation and evaluation.
Undertaking additional classroom teaching duties as directed by the Principal.
Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Assuming non-teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Teachers registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, with experience in the specified curriculum area or areas.

Other Information
If no suitable qualified person is available, a paraprofessional may be employed on a fixed-term basis up to three years, subject to Victorian Institute of Teaching conditions.

Qualification Requirements
Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
For graduates of a postgraduate initial teaching program completed on or after 1 January ****, completion of an accredited initial teacher education program.
Graduates from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July **** must have met the LANTITE requirements.
