Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a strategic sourcing engineer responsible for driving the development of our supply network and managing costs across product lifecycles. You will partner with suppliers to accelerate product development, drive commercial activities, and develop a manufacturing Bill of Materials (BOM). Your expertise in sourcing strategy, supplier rationalization, and cost engineering will be instrumental in reducing complexity and increasing efficiency in our supply chain.
Responsibilities
* Conduct supplier selection and leverage approved supplier lists.
* Partner with suppliers to accelerate product development through activities like concept scoping, feature trade-off analysis, total cost of ownership modeling, joint design development, and simulation of mechanical and electronics designs.
* Drive commercial activities and execute a sourcing strategy using full market knowledge, supplier rationalization, commodity pricing plans, and efficient principles.
* Develop and consolidate a manufacturing BOM, working with quality and manufacturing teams to ramp up production internally and with suppliers.
* Manage NPI component procurement, ensuring on-time delivery and correct components for scaled-up manufacturing operations.
* Request and verify supplier-related CAPEX throughout NPI, conduct value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time and flexibility, and complete BOM risk assessments and part analyses.
* Follow through component qualifications by relevant stakeholders ahead of production need dates, reduce supply chain complexity through commonality optimization and component/supplier rationalization, and lead all cost engineering activities to converge the bottoms-up cost curve to product cost, maximizing TCO across the product lifecycle.
* Manage ad-hoc cost issues like tariffs, import/export costs, and cost inflation.
Requirements
* You have a background in designing and developing mechanical and/or electronics devices.
* You possess experience in advanced sourcing activities, including positions working as a commodity/sourcing manager.
* You have domain expertise in value/procurement engineering or TCO-related work at the component and product level.
* You are familiar with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
* You hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering (BSME, BSEE) or other related technical degrees.
* You must be eligible to obtain an Australian NV1 clearance.
