Perioperative Nursing Opportunity
The perioperative nursing team at Maitland Hospital and Kurri Kurri Hospital is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join their dynamic environment. As part of this structured program, you will gain exposure to various specialties and develop your clinical expertise.
Responsibilities
* You will support anaesthetists by learning critical skills such as airway management, cannulation, and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
* Gain experience with patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) systems and pain management protocols.
* Manage day surgery patients from admission through to theatre transfer and post-anaesthetic care.
Instrument/Circulating Duties
* Prepare and set up for surgical procedures, ensuring instruments and supplies are ready and available.
* Maintain a sterile field and assist with surgical procedures.
* Contribute to smooth theatre flow by supporting surgeons and the operating team.
This comprehensive training program follows clinical guidelines and competencies to strengthen your perioperative practice. You will be supported by Perioperative Nurse Educators, mentors, and supernumerary training time.
Requirements
* Current registration with AHPRA.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Strong knowledge of WHS standards and infection control practices.
* Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
* Effective time management, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
* Willingness to learn and adapt in a constantly changing clinical environment.
* Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.
