Overview

Join the NSW Reconstruction Authority in a key role supporting public infrastructure reconstruction. 2x full‑time positions – one in the Southern Tablelands, Riverina, Queanbeyan region and another in Lismore, Northern Rivers, New England region. Clerk Grade 9/10, salary relative to experience ($129,464 to $142,665) + super.


About The Role

Senior Reconstruction Coordination Officer – you will play a key technical liaison between councils, state agencies and internal teams, guiding communities across NSW to recover and build resilience against future natural disasters.


Responsibilities

* Provide technical guidance to councils for identifying and preparing infrastructure funding claims under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA) program.
* Act as the primary infrastructure contact for councils, including attendance at Emergency Operations Centres and in local/regional emergency management committees.
* Resolve technical challenges in disaster recovery projects by liaising with councils, agencies and internal teams.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with councils to support consistent engagement and infrastructure delivery.
* Monitor council capacity for disaster‑related construction projects and provide feedback for capacity‑building initiatives.
* Contribute to infrastructure recovery reporting and program tracking to ensure alignment with broader reconstruction objectives.


About You

* Strong foundation in infrastructure delivery in routine and disaster‑affected environments.
* Confident navigating funding frameworks with a track record of supporting successful funding applications and project delivery.
* Experience working closely with local governments and understanding their challenges in disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience.
* Familiar with emergency management structures and a problem‑solver who can assess complex technical issues and develop practical, compliant solutions under pressure.
* Excellent communicator capable of building and maintaining strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Organised, detail‑oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities while ensuring alignment with funding guidelines and broader recovery objectives.


Essential Requirements

* Demonstrated experience in managing projects, including planning, prioritisation and funding.
* Proven experience working with local governments to support disaster recovery, preparedness or routine infrastructure delivery initiatives.
* Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, preferably with state or local government bodies.


Desirable Requirements

* Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, construction management or equivalent professional experience in infrastructure delivery or disaster recovery.
* Experience managing working committees.


About The Agency

The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) is an executive agency of the Premier's Department. The RA will improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities to recover from them faster.

To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities and other stakeholders.
