Overview
Club Charlestown is looking for a Sous Chef to join the kitchen leadership team on a full-time basis.
About us: Club Charlestown is a leading bowling Club in the Lake Macquarie Region that boasts 3 bowling greens, function rooms, a 200-seat bistro and an alfresco dining café. In the last 2 years, we have amalgamated with Club Lambton which now operates a 6-day bistro.
The kitchen team is well-established with highly skilled chefs that are ready to share all of their knowledge to help upskill the right person to ensure they grow within the business.
The Role
Supported by the Head chefs, you will be responsible for:
- Guide, train and motivate the kitchen and apprentice team through busy periods, inspiring creativity and continuous improvement
- Ensure the kitchen is well organised for service with prep completed, stock on hand and staff ready
- Assist in dish creation for the seasonal specials board
- Oversee function catering
- Maintain food hygiene and safety and model good practice
This role is perfect for a qualified CDP or similar looking to take the next step in their career.
The person we’re looking for
- Will have availability across a 7-day roster including split shifts
- Will be able to commit to a full-time roster of 38 hours
- Has demonstrated experience (at least 2 years) in a similar role, including all sections of the kitchen, menu and dish development and function catering
- Is looking for career development in the hospitality/chef industry and has a genuine passion for quality food
- Has a can-do attitude, communicates well and can work efficiently under times of pressure
Whilst not a requirement of the job, a valid Drivers licence and reliable transport is highly desirable.
