The ACT Education Directorate is committed to ensuring safe, supportive work environments for teachers, managers, administrative and support staff in schools and in the Education Support Office. When workplace illness or injury occurs, we want to ensure the best outcomes for staff. With this as your focus, the EIAW Team Leader will: Support aspects of the Wellbeing Officers’ day to day workload and service delivery including but not limited to post incident staff wellbeing checks and support, including follow up actions as required. Work collaboratively with the EIAW team to enhance and develop Wellbeing support mechanisms, catered to all Education Directorate staff. This will particularly include: Reviewing the existing triage model to better address psychosocial safety across the workforce. Supporting development of improved standard operating procedures for the team. Developing a Teams interface and referral tool. Addressing complex staff wellbeing concerns. Promote and develop proactive support to Education staff to promote safe workplaces Provide support and advice to stakeholders in the areas of Injury Management, Work Health Safety and early intervention services. Review Safety Portal reports to ensure that duty holders have completed the relevant sections, corrective actions and reporting responsibilities. Administer Work Health and Safety and Risk Management systems and processes. Provide and support reporting and trend analysis to assist in wellbeing initiatives for the Directorate. Work in accordance with, and uphold the ACT Government Respect, Equity and Diversity Framework and the Directorates Work Health and Safety system. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement early intervention and psychosocial safety and wellbeing strategies and solutions. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage a team whilst managing a high volume of work with tight timeframes Proven ability to work and negotiate with various stakeholders to achieve desirable outcomes Demonstrated Work Health Safety and/or Injury Management experience and knowledge specific to mental health and wellbeing. Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in applying mental health first aid and/or counselling, social worker or similar is highly desirable. This may include ASSIST/Compassionate foundations/Accidental counsellor types of qualifications. Demonstrated knowledge in Work Health and Safety and Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation legislation is highly desirable. The ability to work in partnership with other teams and business units to create appropriate approaches to address psychosocial and wellbeing concerns and initiatives. Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate effectively as well as providing guidance to senior leaders, HR stakeholders and external stakeholders. Notes: This is a temporary position available from 31 January 2026 to 05 December 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. Excellent written communication skills including the ability to review and prepare employee correspondence, prepare reports, analyse data and other complex documents. Ability to work in partnership with other teams and business units to create appropriate approaches to address psychological and wellbeing concerns and initiatives. Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate effectively as well as providing guidance to senior leaders, HR stakeholders and external stakeholders.
