 
        
        BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of Highway Maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland's trunk road network, tackling a wide range of tasks to keep Scotland moving. 
We inspect, manage, and maintain over 2,500km of Scotland's trunk road network, including 1,500 structures in the North West of Scotland for our client, Transport Scotland. Our work involves challenging and scenic locations, dealing with structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, gantries, and masts. 
We are seeking a 
Bridge Engineer 
to join our North West Bridges Team based in Perth. The role involves working within a diverse team on investigation, design, procurement, and construction of bridge maintenance schemes. 
The Bridge Engineer will assist with investigation, design, planning, procurement, and construction management of bridge maintenance works. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and subcontractors. 
Roles and Responsibilities: 
Detailed design of bridge maintenance schemes 
Ensuring compliance with technical standards 
Preparing departures from standard when necessary 
Producing reports, investigations, feasibility studies, and assessments 
Collaborating within NW Bridges and other BEAR departments 
Preparing tender documents, preconstruction information, and construction packages 
Supporting commercial teams with tender evaluations and contract awards 
Procurement, supervision, and measurement of maintenance works 
Working with environmental specialists to ensure environmental screening and mitigation measures 
Adhering to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures 
Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and conducting risk assessments 
Maintaining structure data and as-built records using management systems 
Preparing cost estimates and monitoring financial performance 
Supporting Graduate Engineers and Technicians 
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering 
Experience in civil engineering design 
Professional qualification or working towards membership of a relevant professional body 
Valid UK driving license 
Candidates should have civil engineering design experience, knowledge of health and safety, environmental, and commercial aspects of schemes, and be professionally qualified or working towards such qualifications.
