**The Role**
The Newcastle and Northern Sydney Functional Support Officer (FSO) located at RAAF Williamtown reports to the Director of Engineering, Air Domain Centre, part of the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group. The position incumbent is responsible for coordinating, delivering and monitoring enabling services to Air Domain Engineering and Technical staff within the Newcastle/Sydney area.
The role will provide you the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of Engineering and Technical improvement within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), and your location within a regional System Program Office will provide the opportunity to work directly with stakeholders to implement engineering initiatives. Your role requires you to have significant engagement with Air Domain and Engineering and Technical Function Centre management, staff and stakeholders throughout Australia.
**About our Team**
The Directorate of Engineering (DENG) as part of the CASG 'Balanced Matrix' structure, provides Engineering support to Air Domain Engineers, Technicians and Technical Organisations (Domains/SPOs) responsible for the "what and when" delivery of capability and sustainment; and support the Domain Functional Lead for the Engineering and Technical Function within the Air Domain focused on the "who and how". The Directorate of Engineering is also responsible for the delivery of a complex range of Engineering, Science & Technology functions across the Air Domain including: -**
- Provide policy and process domain contextualisation and advice, and coordinate assurance services for engineering and technical management across the Capability Life Cycle for all business units within the Air Domain (Aerospace Systems Division and Rotary, Aerospace and Surveillance Systems Division).
- Oversight of Air Domain Safety.
- Provide specialist professional Engineering advice to the Air Domain Executive.
- Report on the engineering and technical function to Air Domain Executive and advocate for the engineering and technical function and personnel at this level.
- Coordinate relationships with Air Force and DSTG across the Air Domain for the prioritisation and exploitation of Science and Technology requirements and opportunities relevant to capabilities supported by the Air Domain.
- Responsible for RAM, MRD and Aircraft Maintenance Program by providing specialist advice, training and support across the Air Domain and maintaining relevant policies and procedures.
They will be proficient at dynamic complex problem solving, creativity and innovation, comprehension and analysis.
They will be outgoing and able to self-identify risks, issues and opportunities, and act upon those with mínimal guidance from their direct chain of command.
