Job Description
The Role: This role will be responsible for overseeing the development, preparation and maintenance of high‑quality program documentation including briefings, decision papers, presentations, plans, and reporting artefacts. This will include analysis and evaluation of progress, identifying risks and developing intervention procedures or mitigation measures where required.
The role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, including with senior and executive stakeholders, forming and maintaining positive and supportive working relationships across the agency.
You will lead a small team responsible for a range of quality and support activities associated with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, including Agile Delivery Team Boards while managing Program Strategic Risks in the Department's Risk Management System. You will support program planning and reporting in an agile program delivery environment, regularly reviewing Program performance and acting on emerging risks and issues.
In this role you will provide analysis on complex issues and contribute to the planning, reporting and coordination of the Program of high‑quality information, analysis and advice, in a timely manner to a range of audiences. You will also contribute to continuous improvement activities and champion opportunities to mature program planning and reporting practices for the Program.
You will build strong and effective relationships with a range of key internal stakeholders, collaborating with them to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate the preparation and presentation of a range of high‑quality and precise communication material, including Executive briefings, Committee papers, presentations, and reporting. You will manage team planning prioritisation, workflow management and shape the team's work program in alignment with the Program objectives.

Skills and Experience Required
* Experience working in managing or coordinating programs or large projects, preferably using an Agile methodology.
* Strong understanding of risk, issue and dependency management methodologies in a program or project management environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate information to a range of audiences.
* Strong attention to detail and experience in managing quality assurance (writing, editing, proofreading) of high volumes of correspondence, briefs and reports.
* Analysis and investigative skills: gathering information from a variety of sources, exploring new ideas, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and identifying any critical gaps.
* Leadership and people management, including the management of recruitment, performance, development, team communication and ensuring a safe and diverse work environment.
* Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work with colleagues to achieve outcomes.
* Experience effectively managing competing priorities and strategic directions with an ability to remain calm under pressure and respond flexibly to change and uncertainty.
* Strategic skills to drive and positively influence team members and stakeholders.
* Proven ability to make sensitive and complex decisions using professional judgement within legislative parameters and delegated authority.
* Proven ability to act with discretion and integrity in managing sensitive information.
Location and Contract Term
This role is based in Canberra. Contract until September 2026.
Security Requirements
