Student Support Officer
role at

The Role
The Student Support Officer coordinates and delivers student support programs to create a responsive and effective service for students, families, and staff. The role strengthens student wellbeing, attendance and engagement through proactive systems, targeted interventions, and whole-school initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and contribute to the development of student support programs.
Track and monitor student attendance, working collaboratively with students and families to implement strategies that promote regular attendance and engagement.
Support and coordinate school-wide initiatives, including wellbeing awareness days, student activities, and community engagement projects.
Actively participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and case conferences, both within the school and with external agencies, providing information, consultancy, and advice as required.
Collect, record, and analyse data to inform the development and evaluation of strategies and alternative programs.
Undertake research on current issues impacting young people and contribute to projects that address emerging needs.
Prepare and deliver written reports, documentation, and recommendations to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Coordinate Year 6 Transition programs.

Eligibility

be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

Demonstrated skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students experiencing difficulties.
Demonstrated knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations and services.
