Western Health is currently seeking applications for the 2027 Combined Graduate Nurse/Midwife Program at both Joan Kirner Women's & Children's and Bacchus Marsh hospitals. Western Health has an excellent reputation for providing Graduate Nurse/Midwives with a smooth transition to practice from student to Registered Nurse/Midwife.
The Combined Graduate Nurse/Midwife Program, in its first year, offers early career support rotating across the continuum of pregnancy care and a nursing rotation. Graduates have the opportunity to participate in the Grad + Program in their 2nd year, undertaking two theoretical postgraduate equivalent subjects and options for additional rotations.
This program is offered at 64 hours per fortnight with four intakes in 2027 (February, April, July and September).
Key responsibilities:
* Assess and document clinical, non clinical and social needs, identifying at risk patients implementing risk minimisation strategies
* Recognise and respond to changes in patient conditions, elevate care when necessary and document variations accordingly
* Maintain accurate, legible and legally compliant documentation per Western Health policies
* Communicate patient status effectively during handovers
* Advocate for patients and families with support
* Deliver safe, high quality evidence based care
