About this opportunity Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager, Medical and Retrieval Services, you will be an inspiring leader providing strategic input, service implementation, clinical continual quality assurance and clinical governance oversight of our longstanding and evolving aeromedical services across the Northern Territory.
Specifically, you will:
lead the delivery of best practice, high quality primary and interhospital aeromedical retrieval and emergency healthcare across the NT, in partnership with the Aeromedical Nursing Director NT
develop, grow, lead, motivate and guide our multidisciplinary, end to end retrieval teams, consisting of RFDS Flight Nurses and Midwives, Paramedics/Ambulance Officers and NT Health Doctors to achieve RFDS SA/NT’s mission of providing excellence in aeromedical and emergency care across the Northern Territory
develop and strengthen relationships with NT Health stakeholders and contractual partners to ensure our services meet the contextual and cultural needs of our patients, alongside contractual and governance requirements
strengthen relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) to find areas of partnership that support their delivery of contextually and culturally appropriate healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
in collaboration with the RFDS SA/NT Darwin leadership team, identify opportunities aligned with the RFDS SA/NT vision, mission and values that contribute to healthy and safe remote pastoral and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities via innovative approaches to emergency healthcare, through enablers such as virtual telehealth, remote diagnostics, drone-enabled supply and evolving sustainable aeromedical transport platforms.
About you You possess:
at least 5 years’ experience in Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine in Fixed Wing / Rotary platforms
demonstrated leadership skills
highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
a good understanding of the principles of both primary health care and emergency medicine
well-developed understanding of rural and remote Australia
high levels of self-motivation
familiarity with electronic medical record systems and incident reporting systems
ability to develop and maintain relationships across a diverse range of people.
To be considered for the role you require:
general medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
fellowship with ACEM, ANZCA or ACRRM/RACGP with JCCA
proof of current medical indemnity
eligible for or in possession of valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
