About The Role
The role of the SRN Level 1 (MHAOD) is to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of those identified as having mental health and/or drug and alcohol related problems, to assess and manage clinical risk and to participate in the development of the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services.

Participating in development and delivery of new and emerging services, with effective change management strategies.

MHAOD Offers The Clinical Nurse Specialist a Variation Of Experiences Working Across Multiple Models Of Care With The Opportunity To Specialise In

* Providing clinical supervision to less experienced MHAOD Nurses.
* Acts as a role model and provides leadership to Clinical Nurses across MHAOD services.
* Delivery of, and supporting and supervising clinic-based alcohol and other drugs assessments, consultation liaison for withdrawal management, delivery of opioid treatment program, therapeutic interventions, and harm minimization programs.
* Delivery of Mental Health Nursing Care within a custodial clinic-based service with visiting psychiatrists.
* Triage of referrals and triage and risk assessments of prisoners within the remand setting, and support and supervision to CN's within the triage setting.
* Provision of telehealth assessments for patients referred to MHAOD from regional prisons where there is no access to MH Nursing.
* It's desirable to have a relevant post graduate mental health or alcohol and drugs qualification or working towards this. Experience in alcohol and other drugs or mental health nursing would also be desirable.

Eligibility
Qualifications
-Current registration in the category of Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Permanent positions
– To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
