Due to one of our valued team members relocating interstate, we are seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team. This role has a dual focus: supporting our Payroll Officer and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of NDIS claims.

The Role:
The Finance Assistant plays a key role in supporting the finance team by managing daily financial operations, with a particular focus on accurate and timely payroll processing. This includes working within the framework of the SCHADS (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services) Award and handling claims in accordance with NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) funding guidelines and regulations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll, demonstrate strong attention to detail, have effective communication skills, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
A full-time position is preferred; however, part-time arrangements may be considered for the right applicant. Working days and hours will be aligned with the fortnightly payroll cycle.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Payroll Processing
Assist in preparing and processing fortnightly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and relevant legislation.
Maintain payroll records, including timesheets, deductions, and benefits.
Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.

2. Financial Transactions
o Support the preparation and processing of claims, bills, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions in line with NDIS requirements.
o Ensure accurate expense coding and adherence to budget guidelines.
o Reconcile bank statements and contribute to the preparation of financial reports.
3. Administrative Support
o Maintain and update financial records and documentation.
o Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
o Support the Finance Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, including tracking NDIS funding and expenditures.
4. Compliance and Reporting
o Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, national pay awards and NDIS guidelines.
o Prepare and submit statutory reports, including tax filings and superannuation contributions.
o Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate and up-to-date documentation.
Qualifications:
Education:
Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Proven experience in payroll processing and financial administration, typically 2-3 years.
Experience applying the SCHADS Award is highly desirable.
Experience with financial software (e.g. Xero) and payroll systems.
Experience working within the NDIS framework is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
