Field Services Technician – Flood WarningThe Bureau operates under the authority of the Meteorology Act 1955 and the Water Act 2007, providing meteorological and hydrological advice and warning services to the Australian community. Flood warning infrastructure supports disaster preparedness, response, and recovery by enabling the Bureau to deliver riverine flood forecasts and warnings to communities and emergency services.We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced technicians in Hydrographic, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Metrology/Measurement science, ideally with previous field experience.Alternatively, we are also looking for qualified Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation Technicians or Engineers, preferably with field experience.Who are you?You have an appetite for working in remote locations, so a willingness to travel is essential. You are a team player who enjoys hands-on work in the field, and the prospect of seeing many parts of Australia excites you.Who are we?The Observing Operations Hubs are the Bureau of Meteorology's Technical Operations centres, comprising 8 hubs located in each capital city and Cairns. Staff based here travel extensively, utilizing 4WDs, planes, boats, and helicopters to maintain service delivery across instrumentation networks.As part of a national maintenance workforce, there is a high likelihood of travel to other parts of Australia to support the other hubs around the country.We offer specialised, in-house competency-based training on all equipment and ensure you have the necessary tools and skills for this work.
