An exciting opportunity exists for a permanent full time Water and Wastewater Process Engineer to join our Water and Waste Operations and Maintenance team. This position is based within the Isaac Region, with location negotiable.
Reporting to the Manager Operations and Maintenance, the Water and Wastewater Process Engineer position is responsible for providing engineering guidance and advice to improve process efficiency, safety, reliability, continuity and legislative compliance of Water and Wastewater assets within Isaac Regional Council.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Knowledge & Skills
* Proven process knowledge and practical application on Water & Wastewater treatment plants.
* Knowledge and capability to fulfil the reporting requirements for a water and wastewater business.
* Knowledge of the role and legislation of State and Local Government as well as Australian water industry best practice for the purposes of continuous improvement and provision of excellent customer service.
* High level knowledge and experience applying the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, effluent quality and DES licensing requirements;
* Proven ability to work independently, exercise initiative and meet deadlines.
* Ability to exercise a high level of judgment to identify problems and recommend/advise on appropriate solutions, using existing policies and procedures, whilst exercising confidentiality and appropriate political astuteness.
* Demonstrated high level of communication skills and interpersonal skills, encompassing negotiation, investigation and consultation at appropriate levels within the community, government and private sectors.
* Possession of a positive attitude whilst exercising tact and diplomacy.
Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in Water & Wastewater engineering, with proven ability to work independently, exercise initiative and meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated experience in water supply, wastewater and recycled water reticulation systems, as well as water treatment, wastewater treatment and recycled water treatment infrastructure, with an understanding of delivery of services to a distributed customer base.
* High level of experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Qualifications
* Possession of tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Chemical or Process) or Scientific equivalent, with registration as an Engineer with the certified body being advantageous.
* Post graduate qualifications in Business Management, Asset Management, Maintenance Management, Operations Management or similar, are desirable.
* The role requires the possession of a current C Class Open Australian Drivers Licence.
* General Construction Safety Induction Card.
* Ability to pass a pre-employment functional assessment and/or behavioural testing.
