We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Director – Finance to join our team. Ideal for a motivated leader with experience in payroll and accounting, who is committed to supporting high-quality OOSH programs in a collaborative, child-focused team. Weekly hours between 30 - 37 hours, including floor-time.
Key Responsibilities
Service Operations & Compliance
* Support the Director in the efficient and compliant operation of the service
* Ensure adherence to the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations
* Work within service philosophy, policies, and procedures
* Participate in staff meetings and professional development
Financial Management
* Manage accounting and financial operations, including invoicing, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial statements
* Oversee payroll accounting, audits, and insurance renewals
* Use approved financial software (MYOB) and liaise with auditors and consultants
Staff Management & Payroll
* Administer payroll, wages, superannuation, and leave entitlements in line with Children's Services Awards, using the platform Employment Hero
* Support staff induction, training, contracts, and compliance
* Monitor staff qualifications and organise professional development
Family Accounts & Child Care Systems
* Manage family billing, payments, subsidies, and account enquiries
* Support enrolments and re-enrolments
* Ensure smooth operation of childcare management systems, Qikkids, XPlor
Communication
* Build positive relationships with staff, families, and school community stakeholders
* Communicate clearly and professionally, promoting a positive image of the service
On floor time
About You
You are a motivated and organised Assistant Director who:
* Is passionate about OOSH and continuous improvement
* Enjoys mentoring and supporting educators
* Has a finance background and knowledge of the NQS, NQF
* Communicates confidently and builds positive relationships
* Thrives in a collaborative, team-focused environment
Requirements
* Experience in an OOSH, early childhood, or education setting, with knowledge of the NQF, NQS, and My Time, Our Place
* Experience in payroll, accounting, and financial administration, including use of accounting software (e.g. MYOB)
* Experience supporting or leading staff through contract management, compliance, implementation of Children’s Services Award updates, and clear communication.
* Experience managing family accounts and Child Care Subsidy (Qikkids/XPlor)
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Accredited Child Protection Training, current First Aid/CPR/Anaphylaxis/Asthma, and a Working with Children Check, with no relevant convictions under child-related legislation
