About The Role
Monash Health is seeking an inspiring and experienced medical leader to join our team as Head of Unit, Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead clinical and operational performance across Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin Hospital, Kingston Centre, and the wider Monash Health network.
As a senior member of the medical team, you will provide exemplary leadership, drive innovation in patient care, and champion excellence in anaesthesia and perioperative services. You will be a key advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical education, and research, ensuring our patients receive world-class, patient-centred care.
This position is a Full-time, 38 hour per week role (plus rostered on-call) and includes a 50% clinical & 50% non-clinical allocation. The role is a 5 year fixed term role and will be reviewed and extended upon mutual agreement at the end of each term.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver clinical leadership through active participation in patient care and consultation.
* Support education, training, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
* Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, workforce innovation, and operational efficiency.
* Participate in strategic planning, governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Ensure financial accountability and optimal resource management across the Department.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and collaboration.
About You
* Medical qualification with registration in Australia and Fellowship of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (or equivalent).
* Proven leadership and management experience in a clinical setting.
* Demonstrated expertise in patient-centred care, quality improvement, and safety practices.
* Strong financial acumen and operational management skills.
* Exceptional communicator, collaborator, and advocate for innovation in healthcare.
